The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald is a sensational novel about America in the 1920s, and it has been made into a film several times. The latest incarnation is coming in 2012, directed by Baz Luhrmann, and features big names such as Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire. As with all of its appearances on the silver screen, fashion is of the pertinent nature, and this most recent remake is becoming a showcase for that.

DiCaprio will sport a licked-hair look for his character, which is slick, but not likely to catch on. What seems to be likely to catch on, however, are high-waisted pants, shawl collars, and the waistcoat. The pants are the most likely challengers to recent fashion trends on pants. The shawl collars along with the color emerald green make a great look when coupled together. Last, the waistcoat seems to be the definitive look for the main characters, especially when compared to an earlier edition of the film.

Other possible fashions to be showcased include monogrammed shirts, caps, collar bars, and pool clothing. Although the caps showcased could be boaters or baker boys, either would have trouble competing with today’s looks; the pool clothing is of yet unknown but depending on its style it may pose a possible trend. Collar bars are likely to build off of the tie bars showcased by Mad Men, while the monogrammed shirt is likely to be a gift trend, especially considering the time of the release of the film. In all there are some possible hits and misses in the trends.

The latest film incarnation of The Great Gatsby hits American theaters on December 25, making it a holiday season film. As for the fashions, the possibilities presented are interesting. Whether they will catch on as a result of the fashion-showcasing nature of the film remains to be seen.

Mothers live a tough life. From the moment they give birth to the moment they let go of their children, they have to perform a myriad of activities to keep them in good upbringing. It is especially tougher if a mother happens to be a celebrity famous the world over. For Uma Thurman and Vanessa Williams, this was (and is) the reality that they face. As they get through motherhood, they have discovered things that make it less of a grueling experience.

Uma Thurman says that she has discarded the concept of “balance”, and instead of splitting focus to more than one thing, she puts her most important commitment to one thing. In this case, she let motherhood go first. And it is because of this commitment that she was able to support the charity Room to Grow. Now she manages the charity along with her duties as an actress. As for that “balance”, it turns out that there are other things that are important but are not “balance” itself; just their accomplishment will create the appearance of “balance”.

In a similar take, Vanessa Williams says that she puts her daughter first and forms her life according to her daughter’s. But it seems what is most important is passing the healthy habits she acquired from her mother on down. Also, by doing what she likes to do, even though this means succumbing to vices on multiple occasions, she is able to be happy, which in turn leads to her being healthy. And it is only fair that she and her kids, with the lessons that she received from her mother, deserve the best.

These two celebrities have made motherhood less of a task, and the key is through the activities that they do. As part celebrity and part mother, it was about making their loved ones work out with the limelight. The result is a set of activities that harmonize the two worlds, making their motherhood all the more bearable.

Promoting a new album by airplay of its music is nothing new, and with today’s technology, this can be done in many ways. But one prominent R&B singer has taken a more interesting approach to promoting his new album: integrating it into a stage play.

That is exactly what Usher did with his new album, Looking for Myself. He chose to promote his new album by including it as a performance with the off-Broadway stage play Fuerza Bruta (Spanish for “brute force”), at the Daryl Roth Theater in New York. The stage play is known as an intense experience that requires its audience to stand up as they watch the actors dance everywhere around them. Usher took advantage of this setting for dance performances of his songs.

His performance started out with the hit song “Climax”, set to him performing on a treadmill and doing dramatic acts. A total of 12 songs were performed from his new album, all accompanied by stimulating performances by Usher and the cast of the stage play. All of Usher’s new songs fit perfectly with the performances given at the show.

Usher’s new album Looking for Myself is a blend of his signature R&B sound with a touch of Pop and helpings of Euro. The album is slated for a June 12 release.

Diet may not be the easiest thing in the world to commit to, but it can assist in looking good. Two celebrities in the music world have taken to affirm that viewpoint, and the results are stunningly good.

Mariah Carey, who had just given birth to twins, certainly knows about the weight gained by pregnancy. That means turning to diet is vital and necessary to get back in shape. Carey already is an ambassador for the Weight Watchers diet plan, so that is where she started. But she also exercises to keep the health benefits going. This may have also been inspired by her husband (Nick Cannon) when he came down with a disease but was helped with diet.

Miley Cyrus, meanwhile, has the answer for her looking thin almost to the point of anorexia. It turns out that she is allergic to both gluten and lactose. So even though fast food is tempting for her, she cannot eat it. But she says she still eats like a king when it comes to healthy food. Her advice for everyone is to try going without gluten (or even lactose) for some time and feel the difference in their health.

Two celebrities have shown that diet is beneficial for them. For the most part, diet helps them to overcome a health problem that they have. In the process, they also demonstrate that they can look good too with a proper diet.

Fans of independent films should be pleased with the selection of recently released indie creations, as well as what is coming soon.

For the theater crowd, there are three movies worth checking out. Sound of My Voice is a science fiction-oriented film that stars Brit Marling as the leader of a cult to exposed. Bernie is a retelling of a true story about a funeral director, and the movie stars big names such as Jack Black, Shirley MacLaine, and Matthew McConaughey. Those who fancy thrillers would love Headhunters, starring Aksel Hennie as an employment recruiter with a darker side and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau as the antagonist target.

DVD seekers can enchant themselves with Let the Bullets Fly. This Oriental thriller stars Jiang Wen as a thief and Chow Yun-Fat as a gangster battling it out to get their hands on a city’s fortunes. Alternatively, they could immerse themselves in Pariah. This drama tells about the challenges of growing up for Alike, a girl who leads a double life as a lesbian, played by Adepero Oduye.

Finally, an upcoming movie might prove to be worthwhile for Bollywood or Indian-setting movie lovers. The movie is titled The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel and stars the likes of Judi Dench, Bill Nighy, Tom Wilkinson, Maggie Smith, and Dev Patel. The movie details of British retirees in India trying to live out their golden years. A bonus is that this movie is directed by John Madden of Shakespeare in Love, which should prove very interesting.

Overall, indie film lovers are being treated nicely with some of the most recent movies out there. It is a guarantee they will be occupied with these interesting selections for some time.

Friends are the most admirable people that anyone can have. They are also great for celebrating special events that are worthy to be shared with everyone that deserves it. Recently, some Hollywood celebrity couples have done just that, and the merriments they shared were exceptional ones for many people along the way.

Take Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively. The couple of six months recently just went out on a date in Los Angeles. But this was not any ordinary date; this was a date that they shared with friends. With good food and a Mariachi band in tow, the atmosphere was certainly festive as the couple can attest – at times, they sang with the band. Having recently bought a house to live together on the other side of the country, it seems they have made a perfect start for a life together, and friends do indeed make it all the more interesting.

Ben Affleck with wife Jennifer Garner, meanwhile, have taken a more humanitarian approach. They attended the fund-raising party for Children Mending Hearts, an organization committed to supporting after-school programs. Producer Grant Heslov, a partner of George Clooney, as well as Tobey and Jennifer Maguire, Adam Pally, and Sam Trammell were there to enliven the festivities. Serving as DJ was none other than Connor Cruise, the son of Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman. With so many celebrities around for a good cause, it is surely a time well-spent.

As for Drew Barrymore and her fiancé Will Kopelman, it is all about a family affair, as she has been said to be pregnant with their first child. As a result, her friends and family threw the couple a dual wedding and baby shower, hosted by Leonard Goldberg, the one who worked with her on the movie Charlie’s Angels. Barrymore says she is excited about getting married. If anything, this couple has many things to look forward to.

Friends make any gathering memorable, and the three celebrity couples above have proven so with their respective gatherings. Whether it is a relationship in any stage or giving back to the world, any festivity is more complete with friends around. As the saying goes, the more the merrier.

Spending the holidays with someone is certainly better than spending the holidays alone. Everyone gets to have a piece of the joy of such a day. So in that spirit, two celebrity couples decided to spend their Easter together and to share the merriment.

Although movie stars Rachel McAdams and Michael Sheen have been busy in Europe making and promoting their respective films, that did not stop them from spending time together. For Easter, Rachel made the trip from Berlin, where she was just shooting her recent film, to Wales, where Michael was at the premiere of his own film. The couple spent Easter with Michael’s family at a brunch. At the least this is a gesture showing that they are still solid as a couple.

The superstar couple David and Victoria Beckham, meanwhile, had a bigger handful. Their Easter was spent in Napa with their four children. Interestingly, Gordon and Tana Ramsay joined in with their four children as well, which made for a more festive time. Napa is wine country, so it should not be surprising that the Beckhams also tour for the prospect of their fledgling stake in a winery, which they utilize to produce their own wine. In all, Easter seems to be a gourmet treat for everyone involved in this case.

Family and friends are always at the heart of every holiday or celebration and these two celebrity couples do have things going for them, whether it be on their off days or on. Happy Easter.

Two celebrities in the music world have given their own takes on the relationship that is known as marriage. One of them is moving towards it and the other is moving away from it.

The one who is moving towards it is the country musician Jake Owen. He recently proposed to his girlfriend Lacey Buchanan at a charity event. Even though it was done rather simply without a ring to present, Jake became very happy when his girlfriend accepted his proposal. In all, it was still rather romantic.

As for the one moving away from it, that would be Cheryl Cole. After having divorced from footballer Ashley Cole, she is looking to make a fresh start, and that involves making herself more famous without her ex’s last name – in other words, just call her “Cheryl”. Depite this career move, she says she will remain on good terms with the rest of the Coles.

No matter where marriage may be headed, good results can always happen as these two music world celebrities demonstrate.

One of the brightest stars in the music world has gone away. Whitney Houston, the famed singer and actress in the film “The Bodyguard”, died at the age of 48.

She was found dead in her hotel room at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on Saturday night (February 11^th) at local time. There was reportedly panic at the fourth floor of the hotel where she stayed as assistance was tried to be given. Police still has not found the exact cause of her death and will conduct an autopsy of her body.

Before her death, she participated in a Pre-Grammy event and looked healthy. She was even able to converse with her mother, the gospel singer Cissy Houston, half an hour before dying.

The death of Whitney Houston came as a shock to the music world, prompting the organizers of the Grammy Awards – which were to be held the night after – to restructure the event. Tributes have poured in from all around the world.

With more than 170 million copies of her albums and dozens of Grammys, Billboard Awards, AMA Awards, and Emmys under her belt, she is known for being a legendary singer and diva.

But life was not all sweet for Whitney. She had been known for having drug addiction problems to the point that she had to go into rehab once, and also for smoking.

Despite her flaws, she is considered by many to be one of the greatest singers of all time.

Good Charlotte’s been 15 years raising their music. Now the band from Maryland, the American wants to leave shortly.

Along the way Good Charlotte, the band fronted Joel Madden, Benji Madden, Billy Martin, Paul Thomas and Dean Butterworth has already released five albums. In 2011, they also had released the album ‘Greatest Hits’. Now the Good Charlotte wanted to rest from all activities.

“We’ll stay away from making albums and touring for several minutes, just for fun and creative again like when we were 15 years old,” said Benji told Rolling Stone reported by NME, on Friday (09/02/2011).

Although Good Charlotte wants to leave, the twins Madden will not leave the music world. They both will release the tape ‘Before the Fame: The Madden Brothers’ on 1 October.

In the project they are working with many emerging artists. They also plan to distribute these recordings for free.

“We want to make music with new artists and God bless EMI, they let us do what we want,” said Joel.

Good Charlotte has held two major concerts in Jakarta, the latter when they appear in the Java Rockin’land 2011. Benji made a surprise for his fans by singing Sm * sh. Previous Joel and enji also briefly akustikan at the Hard Rock Cafe a few years ago.
